What Does this Transvaginal Ultrasound Result Mean?

I had a transvaginal ultrasound done, as I am trying to get pregnant and have been trying for over a year now. The results came back as Anteverted uterus, which is normal in size and echogenicity, measuring 8.9 x 4.3 x 4.7 cm. Endometrium is normal in contour and size. Minimally complex subcentimeter nabothian cysts. Right ovary measures 2.4 x 1.5 x 2.3 cm. Left ovary measures 2.9 x 1.5 x 2.5 cm. Multiple peripheral follicles present bilaterally. No adnexal masses identified. Trace free fluid is seen in the posterior cul-de-sac. What does this mean in words I can understand until my next appointment with my dr?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The size of the uterus, it's position & thickness of the inner layer of the uterus (endometrium)are within normal limits.

The nabothian cysts are mucus containing cysts that are secreted by cervix (the mouth of the uterus).

Multiple costs on ovary indicate the possibility of a problem in ovarian maturity/ovulation problem (which can be a hurdle in conception) confirmed by ovulation study & hormonal assessment.

Free fluid in cul de sac indicates ovulation/some infection/or super stimulation of ovary.

In all this USG would help your treating gynecologist to pinpoint any problem in conception & offer you specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
